RE: Vermont Foilage

Yankee Foliage It varies year to year and area to area. This year we had a wet summer and trees on my land (central VT area)which usually start to change at the end of August are still nice and green. Check out other foliage map sites. The rule of thumb is the further north in New England the sooner the colors.

RE: Next summer - now what??

This July 2008, we spent 9 days at Lake George and a week in Lake Placid. Lake George had all the "beach, amusement parks, hiking" history, boat rides Minnie Ha Ha is great. We also rented a boat to spend the day on the lake. Lake Placid has the Olympic Passport Tour which is great. We stayed at Lake George RV Resort (entertainment and planned activities for the family, paddle boats, trolly all included)) and Northpole RV Park in Wilmington/Lake Placid. PS we also visited Fort Ticonderoga and Saratoga. PM me if you have any questions.

Generator Life??

we are in the process of buying our first motorhome. Part of our plan was to rent a Class C 30' to see if it fit our needs. Part of the rental agreement was that I would get 10 hours on the generator and if I went over I would have to pay an extra fee for the hours used. Well I never used the generator, because we had full hookup so all was good. But the extra fee for usage got me thinking, do generators have a "life" span where they only last for so many hours and they they have to be replaced? I realize that anything mechanical will eventually wear out and have to be replaced, but is there a specific "Hour" where they s*%$ the bed?

RE: Opinions needed on "best" cell phone provider for RVing

I have Verizon and have had no problems getting connected. The only one I have problems with is my son who has an I phone with AT&T service. Whenever I call him, I cannot reach him or the call is dropped.I do work with a guy who lives 2 towns over from me and he had to get rid of his Verizon service because he was having problems with dropped calls, so go figure..there probably is no perfect plan. If you look at my states visited map, your can see where I had my Verizon, I am sure you will find the occasional DEAD ZONE. Just check with whatever company you go with, they will show you service area maps, and just watch out for roaming charges if they apply to your individual plan. DO YOU HEAR ME NOW ??? lol I am sure you will get responses here from different parts of the country and can narrow it down to the best provider by you travel plans.

RE: Advice on our first Class C purchase

We are have also been looking, but actually for 2 years now. We visited different RV shows, dealesrships and campgrounds. Wife has never RVed so had to convince her it would be fun to get into the lifestyle. We rented a Class C for 3 weeks this summer and had a great time. Wife loved it. She was sold. We rented a 30' Tioga Class C. Now we are looking at Class A and C motorhomes. I am 6.1 and some of the Class C models with slides are snug fits when I drive, so may have to go with a Class A. So just make sure that the RV you buy fits your needs and pocketbook. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

RE: number of slides on class c's

Jayco MS The Jayco Class C Senaca MS has a super slide on one side that extends into the bedroom, plus a smaller slide in the bedroom on the opposite side of the RV.

RE: 2009 Fleetwood Tioga

We rented a 2007 Class C Tioga 30' no slides to see if it fit our needs. The motor home was very comfortable and all systems worked fine. The cabinets were very sturdy. For 3 nights we had 6 adults sleeping in the RV. 2-bed, 2 -over cab bed, 1 jacknife sofa, 1- dinette. It was a little too cozy without a slide, but it was ok. The rest of our three weeks was either 2 to 4 adults. When it was just the 2 of us it was great. We liked the dinette across from the sofa, so we could sit as a group. We put Fleetwood Tioga with slides on our short list if we decide to go with a Class C. Features we liked- outside shower, large lighted pass through storage in back, under bed storage, rinse hose on toilet, kitchen with oven, microwave, stove, flip down tray table on sofa, ducted air and heat, double stainless steel kitchen sink, NO front window on cab but 2 side windows, tinted glass, screened windows that slid open, day/night shades, 3 large windows in bedroom,3 ceiling vent fans with controls, and cab bed that slid out of the way while driving so cab seemed more roomy. The 450 Ford cab had plenty of power for mountain roads. The electric step with night light under the coach was nice when returning late at night. We did not have a backup camera, which I would want in the future. We will be checking out the 2009 when our dealer gets one in. Good luck.

RE: Critters (particularly MICE)

I tried the ultrasonic pest repeller and now I have mice and chipmunks! Noting like a good old mouse trap! Good luck. P>S> I was able to remove the chipmunk alive! He was too cute for the trap.

RE: Places to see /eat in Boston

are there any good resturants - that have people dressed up in historical costumes or any resurants that are based on history in and around the Boston harbour area / Freedom Trail area? Further south in Plymouth there is Pilgrim Village which would fit your bill. You get to eat with the Indians and Pilgrims. Call ahead to see when they are having dinners. Some small rsturants to eat at right on the water front also. In Boston you will see Ben Franklin walking around the Hay Market/Faneuil Hall. Right across the street is the North End...great Italian food. Oyster House is great right at the Hay Market. Take a Duck Tour to get the general layout of the city. The theatre district has some great resturants but quite expensive. The side streets across from BankNorth Garden (sport complex) off Causeway street has many fun place to eat. One is an old fire house. Many are sport bar type eateries (you have to be a Patriot, Red Sox, or Celtic fan to get in:) ). Have a good trip.

Bowish Lake Campground, West Glocester RI .????

Today on our way back to Massachusetts from CT, we decided to take back roads to enjoy the country side and little shops along the way. We stopped at this campground to check it out. It looked really nice and the kids were getting ready to take a hay ride. We thought that this would be a nice place for a weekend getaway since it is only about 45 minutes from our home. I cannot find any reviews on the usual sites. Has anyone stayed here? How was it? Pros and cons. Thanks for any info. Bowish Lake Campground, West Glocester RI .

RE: October Foliage Camping

Like ACZL said...Lake George area....or Lake Placid NY. I grew up in Vermont and love the foliage up there, but the up state NY area is great also expecially with all the beautiful gorges.

RE: Wow! Gotta look at this!

I saw one with the roof top patio, but the interior staircase leading up there took up alot of interior living space. Motorhome magazine had one on the cover where the patio folded out of the side of the Class A.

RE: outside shower mat

I puchased a version of "potable shower deck" at a Christmas Tree Shop for $3.00. Very light weight and easy to store.

RE: Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede, Myrtle Beach-a critique

We went when our kids were young. We had a great time also. I am sure the show has changed since then.
